=What is CUSEC?=

CUSEC stands for Canadian Undergraduate Software Engineering Conference. It is an academic conference geared towards educating and enlightening students about the intricacies of the software engineering world at large.

=Why should I go to CUSEC?=

There are a number of benefits to attending CUSEC:

  1. You can learn a LOT about software engineering theories and practices. You'll be listening to presentations from the best researchers and industry leaders in the software engineering field.
  2. You can meet other software engineering students from schools from across Canada.
  3. You can participate in a software engineering competition and win prizes.
  4. You can enjoy the sights and sounds of Canada's national capital region, Ottawa. This includes skating down the world's longest skating rink, if it is open.
  5. You can meet famous software engineering celebrities! In previous years we have had Kent Beck (father of Extreme programming) and the Nullsoft guys (created WinAmp), and many others. You can even party on the dance floor with them!

Yes! CUSEC is as much about fun as it is about education. We want you to look forward to coming to those early morning (9:00) speaking events. CUSEC will provide entertainment so you can mingle with students and speakers alike.

For students registering before January 3rd: $55.
After January 3rd: $75.

  • You can become a Head Delegate for your school (more information below).
  • You can distribute our call for papers which is up on the website.

=What is a Head Delegate?=

A Head Delegate is CUSEC's main contact person for their respective university. Some of the responsibilies of a head delegate include:

  • Promote CUSEC at their university to attract more attendees. We will provide you with some promotional material to help you out.
  • Get as many people as possible to register for CUSEC.
  • Co-ordinate group transport and accommodations with other attendees from your university.
  • Try to get funding from your university to help subsidize your delegation's expenses.
Different sources of funding are usually available in universities:
  • Your faculty or department.
  • Engineering Student Society.
  • Software Engineering Student Society.
  • Software Engineering related Societies like the ACM, IEEE, IEEE/CS and other university-specific societies.
Benefits of being a head delegate include:
  • Get a free ticket into CUSEC if you get 15 or more people to come.
